Harbor Freight Towable Backhoe Hydraulic Pressure Test Port
A must have when troubleshooting and or montiering hydrualic operating pressures.
Leave it installed or put back in your tool box.
This hydraulic test port is designed to be installed between the hydraulic pump and the control valve. Simply remove the supply / pressure hose coming from the pump to where it connects at the valve. Install the test port on to the valve 1st. Then connect the hose the the test port.
Now at a medium, you can see where the pressure relief valve is set at / relieving.
To low of a relief setting , the backhoe strength will be weak.
To high of a relief setting and things can start to break.
Hydraulic Gauges are essential when troubleshooting: Imagine you are using the bucket cylinder to lift a load, but you find that the load won’t go up. The gauge can help tell you if there is enough pressure coming out of the pump and that the pump is working ok.
A hydraulic pressure gauge measures and displays the pressure within a hydraulic system. It's a helpful tool for monitoring system performance, detecting potential problems, and help prevent down time
Also, monitoring hydraulic operating pressure is essential for safety purposes. High pressure can pose a significant risk to both backhoe and operator. By getting familiar with pressure gauge reading while in use can help operators identify and rectify any pressure spikes or excessive pressure that could lead to failures or accidents.
Why we use a glycerin / Liquid filled gauge ?.The glycerin inside the gauge helps dampen the effects of sudden changes in pressure. (like reading valve pressure relief) This also helps to protect the mechanics inside the gauge. They are used ideally for applications where there could be ‘shock loads’ (pressure spikes) and sudden pressure changes in the system. A glycerin / liquid filled dampens needle vibration – enabling better readability of the gauge and prolonging its life.
